Archive notice: This daily brief records developments and CardFlow rate data available on July 31, 2026. Its historical table does not update. Use the live comparison module and current Gift Card price table for a later snapshot.

July 31 is a useful date for separating infrastructure news from price noise. Nigeria’s revised PoS location-rule timetable, Steam’s gifting update and PlayStation’s Summer Sale affect different parts of the market. None maps one-to-one to a resale rate.

July 31 stories at a glance

Signal Verified development Gift Card relevance
Nigerian payments Payment providers faced a July 31 compliance-evidence deadline before PoS geo-fencing enforcement. The change concerned payout infrastructure and fraud controls, not the formula used to price a Gift Card.
Steam Steam expanded guest checkout, email gifting and cross-region game gifting. A game gift, digital Gift Card and Wallet Code are not interchangeable; product type and recipient country still matter.
PlayStation The PlayStation Store Summer Sale was refreshed on July 27 and scheduled through August 12. Promotions can support spending interest, but route availability and buyer inventory still influence resale demand.
Fraud risk Consumer agencies continued to warn about impersonators demanding Gift Card numbers and PINs. Urgency is not evidence of a legitimate trade. Receipts and protected codes remain important.

What CardFlow’s July 31 snapshot recorded

The selected comparable US-dollar routes did not move as one market. Steam and Amazon strengthened slightly, while Apple, Xbox and PlayStation softened. Razer Gold remained the highest of this selected group, but its daily change was almost flat.

US-dollar route USD 100 guide Daily change July 31 read
Razer Gold Gift Card NGN 124,581 +0.02% Highest selected estimate, broadly steady
Apple Gift Card NGN 114,997 -0.38% Strong level, softer on the day
Xbox Gift Card NGN 109,600 -0.12% Small decline
Steam Gift Card NGN 105,755 +0.38% Positive move despite platform changes
Amazon Gift Card NGN 99,319 +0.43% Largest gain in the selected set
PlayStation Gift Card NGN 88,368 -0.27% No sale-linked uplift was visible; this snapshot cannot establish cause

This is a frozen record of CardFlow’s verified local snapshot dated July 31, 2026. The figures are USD 100 guides for comparable US routes, not guaranteed payouts. Country, currency, format, denomination, route capacity and verification can change a final quote.

PoS compliance matters at the payout end

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s revised timetable required payment providers to submit PoS geo-fencing compliance evidence by July 31, with enforcement following from August 1. This was not a reason to expect an Apple or Steam rate to rise. The direct relevance sits further down the transaction: payment endpoint oversight, location controls and suspicious-activity tracing.

Payout reliability is part of transaction quality. Confirm the receiving account before a trade, keep transaction references and avoid switching to an unfamiliar PoS or cash arrangement because someone claims it will be faster. Infrastructure compliance cannot guarantee that a particular Gift Card will be accepted or paid.

Steam made gifting easier, not region-free

Steam’s July 22 update expanded guest checkout from digital Gift Cards and hardware to games and allowed games and digital Gift Cards to be sent to an email address. The announcement says unaccepted email gifts are refunded after 30 days and the email recipient must live in the same country as the buyer.

Steam also described cross-region game gifting that can match a higher-priced recipient region at checkout. This does not make every Steam product globally interchangeable. A Nigerian seller should distinguish a physical retail card, Wallet Code, digital Gift Card and direct game gift before discussing a route or value.

The cited Steam sources do not establish a universal claim that Valve will stop replenishing all physical retail Steam Gift Cards by the end of 2026. This brief therefore does not use that claim to predict scarcity, acceptance or rates.

PlayStation’s sale was a demand window, not a rate guarantee

PlayStation’s Summer Sale included discounts across selected games and was scheduled through August 12, although individual offers could end earlier. A promotion can support spending interest, but it cannot guarantee that every PSN route will rise.

CardFlow’s comparable PlayStation route was down 0.27% on July 31. That small one-day move could not establish a cause. Buyer stock, card region, denomination, proof quality and route capacity also influence an estimate.

Gift Card scam risk: urgent PIN requests

The US Federal Trade Commission’s dated boss-impersonation warning describes an unexpected request, an “urgent favour” and instructions to send Gift Card numbers or PINs. A legitimate buyer may need protected evidence, but do not post a redeemable code publicly, share account credentials or treat a screenshot of a payment alert as settled money.

What the July 31 signals meant for Nigerian sellers

Three of the six selected routes rose and three fell, while the largest daily move was 0.43%. That was a mixed, quiet session rather than market-wide repricing. Check the exact country, currency, denomination and format; protect the PIN; and judge payout transparency alongside the estimate.

For broader context, compare the July 28 market pulse and the preliminary July 1–28 report. Those pages answer different historical questions and should not be treated as today’s rate.

Did the PoS deadline change Gift Card prices?

Did Steam announce that all retail Gift Cards end in 2026?

The cited Steam sources do not establish that universal claim. Do not price a card on an unsupported scarcity story.

Did the PlayStation sale guarantee higher PSN rates?

No. Promotions can affect interest, while route inventory, region, denomination and evidence also affect a practical estimate.

Does a receipt or screenshot guarantee payment?

No. Evidence can support review, but it cannot guarantee authenticity, activation, unused status, acceptance, quote, speed or payment.
